| Related Diseases of Parkinson’s There are other disorders and diseases that are medically known as Parkinson-Plus diseases. Some of these diseases are Multiple System Atrophy ( MSA), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration ( CBD). When and if Parkinson’s Disease patients suffer from dementia they also have what is called Lewy Bodies or DLB. The Lewy bodies end up in the brain tissue and they become thicker and wider spread in the brain. No one knows why the Lewy bodies are connected PD. Like we have mentioned not everyone will suffer from the dementia. Those are people who suffer from advance and severe Parkinson’s. The majority of people will suffer from the typical symptoms such as body tremors, speech impediments, stiffness in the hands and feet. The Parkinson-Plus-Disease sufferers the disease at a faster rate. The disease is more accelerated in the patients who have the plus diseases.
The medications that are given to the Plus patients, most of the time don’t work or they are not as effective as they would be to patients with typical symptoms. Other medications are given such as haloperidol. These two diseases such as Wilson’s disease and Essential tremor have Parkinson’s symptoms but is not Parkinson’s. No one knows why some people get the advanced stages and some people get the typical disease and some get the Plus. With advocates like Mohammed Ali and Michael J Fox leading the way. Maybe one day a cure will be found. |
